Default Controller question for my 2010 precedent

I have a 2010 Club car precedent that has the stock motor and 200amp controller on it. Im looking to upgrade the controller only right now so i can get a little more torque. I was told by a mechanic that Curtis makes a 500amp that plugs straight in and is pre programmed as well. He says i wont need to change solinoids or wires either. Is this true first of all and if so does anyone know exactly which controller he is speaking of before i purchase the wrong one? Thanks in advance!

I am no expert here but everything I have read here tells me you will need a new solenoid and to get max performance new cables. Also a 500 amp controller may be to much for your stock motor. YOu need to here from one of the experts here like Tahoedawg,JohnnieB or Scottyb they will steer you in the right direction.

What's your serial number Wayne? It could be either an Excel or IQ system. A cable upgrade will be needed for a 500 amp controller.

You heard correct about the 500 amp conversion kit. You can get it programmed to work fine with the factory motor. I recommend a heavier cable set. 4 gauge at least. I like using 2 gauge.
