Default Pulse tube for marathon fuel pump

So weird question i have a 93 ezgo marathon with 350cc robins engine. I was replacing all my fuel lines since some were dry rotted and cracked and i was replacing the pulse line that goes between the pump and the crankcase and there's a weird looking filter on the line. It almost looks like a fuel filter but different and has oil in it? Not sure why it was there and i tried looking it up to see if anyone else has something like it and found nothing? Just curious if anyone else has this or if its something someone did before i owned the cart?
THanks

Who knows what someone put in there. To my knowledge, there shouldn't be anything placed on that line.

Seen those years ago. Industrial machines and some off road companies add those.
Pump savers. They are just a filter with a foam block full of oil.
The are supposed to keep the diaphragm lubed and prevent back-flow damage making them last longer.
Do not know if they actually do anything or just another gimmick. Some old timers swore by them for chain saws ect.

Alright i was thinking the same thing ! I eliminated it when i changed the lines to the pump. I bought the cart from a farmers elevator years ago so it makes sense they probably put it on there. Thanks for the help guys!
