back fire
I am posting this for a friend 1993 g8 new carb checked valves every time he lets off the gas it back fires it goes good until he lets off the gas than bang it back fires any help

If you search the yamaha section for backfire problems, you will find several threads on the issue. Their backfire problems were no different than yours, usually traced to a carb adjustment issue. Start with throttle blade adjustment, make sure throttle cable is not holding throttle open when gas pedal is at rest (should be a little slack). Then remove carb & check throttle blade as per pics. This can also usually be done with the throttle set screw on top of carb with carb installed. The carb in the pics is from a G16, but it is so similar that you should be able to recognize the screw in question.
