Lifted cart swaying badly
Just picked up an 2008-2009 yamaha golf cart with 6" lift and 23" tires, 4 seater. How do I reduce the sway when I take turns? Heck even on straight aways when i make steering adjustments if i have passengers in the back it's nearly uncontrollable for my wife.
Like subframe connectors, stiffer springs, cheap sway bar option, etc. Was hoping you guys have experienced this and might have a work around. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. |

Do you have wheel spacers? If not you need to get them

Re: Lifted cart swaying badly
Not sure what kind of tires you have, but stiffer tires may help as well. Weak soft tires ride better but sidewalls tend to flex a lot more than a 4pr or 6pr tire

Re: Lifted cart swaying badly
Did you realign after the lift? Adding a lift, heck even just changing wheels, often will change the alignment and cause all kinds of problems. I just went through this with my Club Car just last year. It was all over the place after a simple wheel / tire change (it was already lifted). It was much better after I realigned things.

Re: Lifted cart swaying badly
I agree with Lochlin. My lifted Yamaha was uncontrollable even in a straight line. I realigned the front end and it drives like a Cadillac now. All you need is a 17mm wrench for the jam nut and a 12mm wrench to adjust the tie rod.

Re: Lifted cart swaying badly
Definitely adjust the toe in. The most common issue with comments like yours.
What diameter rim are you using with the 23" tires? Rims 10" or less can exhibit more sway in corners due to the taller sidewalls versus 12" rims. |
