So after all.the testing and guessing I finally get my cart back tomorrow. The lightning strike had fried the controller so 880 dollars later shes up and going again.

Ouch! Good surge suppressors offer to replace the objects downstream. That would cover charger and controller. Had a buddy get cash for a fried PC motherboard. All he had to do is mail their surge suppressor back. Had a fault LED.

Surge suppressor wouldn't have helped me it went through the winch cable attached to my tractor disk setting in the dirt. The charger and all were fine. No more winching to the disk for theft.

Sounds like induced current. There was a crane hit by lightening on a job I was managing. Normally all booms are dropped at the end of the day, but it snuck up on us. Blew the crap out of the computer and electronics. Five figures. Too small for insurance.
