Default 98 ezgo axle repair question.

I have a 98 ezgo that will not move. Jacked up with wheels off the ground it runs fine. If I hold the tire and press the gas it spins inside the gears and the tires won’t turn. I have dropped the pan and visually inspected this to be true on both wheels. Question that I have is can I replace both axles or do I need to replace the entire drive train. I have not pulled the axles out to visually inspect them so I do not know if it the axle teeth or the main gear teeth that are ground away. I am assuming it’s on the axle at this point as this seems to be a fairly common problem. I know you can’t really see anything on the photo-but wanted to put it on there so you know where I am looking. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

EZGos have hubs that are made from butter. Have you pulled both hubs off the rear and inspected them?

Yes it is not the hubs this is on the inside I actually replaced both hubs thinking that was the problem initially. The axles are not spinning at the main drive assembly.

Pulled the axle and found a internal gear missing teeth. I do not think I can replace that gear Alain’s so looks like a new drive unit.

I don't think those spider gears are the problem.

I think he's talking about on the ID of the spider gear where the axle slides in. Looks to me like it never had teeth in that gap to begin with, like it was made that way.

That’s what I thought was either broken or sheared off. I am looking to just replace the whole rear end assembly at this point. Every place I have tried is out of them with a 3-4 week delay. Not really sure what to do now.
