1996 club car starter
How to determine if starter is going bad? Sometimes when I push on the pedal nothing happens but a faint high pitched squeal (for lack of better terminology) but after pumping the pedal a few times, the engine will start. Is it time for a new starter? or do I have another possible issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 1996 club car starter
I had the same issue on my 2000 CCDS . The squeal is the starter belt too loose, The pulley is spinning on the belt, Need to tighten the belt or get a slightly smaller belt. Belt also may be worn out and a new one will stop the squeal. The hesitation is a sign that the starter is going bad. you may want to replace. If you put it in service mode and watch the starter turn over, you will see the hesitation in the starter, the starter should spin fast and strong as soon as the peddle is pressed. Good luck!
