Default accelerator pedal sticking

Hello. I have a gas club car and the accelerator pedal keeps sticking when depressed. I can hook my foot under it and pull it up but it is dangerous. Can anyone help? Thanks!

You might try spraying graphite on the cable

thank you. I just sprayed some lubricant (liquid wrench) on the assembly, spring and 'plunger' inside the spring. I will try graphite too. Do you think there is anything wrong with the spring? Do they go bad?

Thanks again for the help.

Look underneath the cart. Is the spring still there? Depending on what year you have and where you're located, it may have rusted/broken off

spring is still there and looks ok. The lube helped a little. I will keep working it. Thanks!

liquid wrench helps, spray the pedal mechanism really well and work it back and forth. I'd bet the pedal is sticking more than the cable
