Default Access Panel Blind Nuts Ripped Through Plastic--Nothing to grab now

  • I have a 2014 Club Car DS (Gas).
  • Access Panel will not stay on because the blind nuts that hold it in have "ripped" through the mounting holes.

The holes are now too wide for the new blind nuts to get a bite. I tried using a washer on back side but depth of blind nut not long enough to bite both the washer and the body panel (it just pushes the washer away, vs pulling it on the inside of the crimp.)

Ideas on how to repair this?
What is the CC body made of, and can it be patched and redrilled? (seems like plastic)

I would get some heavy-duty weatherproof velcro and put a few pieces of that around the bottom of the cover.

The body is plastic. If they're pulled through (usually due to rusty bolts, then they spin, then they're done) there's really no easy way to repair it.

Other option would be to drill a couple new holes and use a couple of these.

If you have a back seat installed, or a dump bed, that cover can be kind of a pain to remove the bolts on anyway. Velcro or push clips make it a lot easier to access.

I've had a couple do that and I just drill a new hole next to the old one and use a stainless steel #14 x 3/4" self tap screw threaded straight into the body plastic. They don't have to be super tight. It doesn't take much to keep the cover from sliding back.
Push some plastic "christmas tree" trim rivets into the "old" holes in the black cover.
