Default More power 2001 lifted CCDS with 22” tires

Hello

I’ve noticed a decrease in power going up hills and need some suggestions.

I’ve got the high torque spring in the clutch which helps, and recently installed a tachometer. The cart will only reach 4200 when running downhill at about 30 degree incline.

Where do I start, engine or clutch?

I had CPP machine clutch with extreme HD belt and HD spring. Takeoff is jerky but it doesn’t have any problem going up a hill. I don’t have a tach but do have a zip tie on gov spring and have it set to not exceed 19mph.

I also recommend cart parts plus severe duty belt. It really helps on hills!

I’ve also got an HD belt, zip tie on governor spring, and rev limiter deleted.

My thought was that the engine would rev like crazy going downhill, and I would have to remove throttle to prevent valves floating. I’m thinking my engine doesn’t have the power needed.

If you can't get to 4200 rpm on level ground I would check valve lash. If that's good check compression.

Valves are set at 0.004”. Will check compression this weekend.
