Functional RXV back up lights!
It's been done... but how?
Mom just bought a 2020 RXV Elite and the dealer had installed on the canopy a 3rd brake light strip with turn signals and a functional backup light... I really don't want to tear apart her brand new cart to trace the wiring out. I want to add backup lights to a 2015 RXV fleet and 2016 RXV Freedom. I know we have a couple of recent threads on this but now I know that it might be possible. Also if a dealer is routinely installing them it can't be too difficult/time consuming. I am very familiar with the difficulty in hooking up back up lights on an RXV due to the entire path from the key switch to the controller and the backup buzzer being a 5v data bus vice 12v DC in traditional carts. Tapping or cutting either of these wires will result in a smoked controller. Can anyone tell me how the dealer wired the backup light? The salesmen don't know anything and the cart setup shop is not onsite to ask a tech. Is the 2020 RXV Freedom Elite different than previous generations in this area and allows for a backup light somehow? It's not a street legal. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Re: Functional RXV back up lights!
I bet they're hacking into the keyswitch, or reverse buzzer circuit. VERY dangerous for your controller.

Re: Functional RXV back up lights!
I know this topic is several months old, but did you ever find out how those back up lights were wired ?
I'd like to put automatic reverse lights in my RXV, but every thing I have read seems that it can't be done safely unless one is knowledgeable with programming the controller and re-assigning an output pin. That's way beyond my capabilities and I don't want to do a manual switch if I don't have to. I have the obsolete Danaher controller in mine and don't want to ruin it. |
