Default 2018 Gas Club Car Tempo Regulator Failure

Hello Buggies Gone Wild,

I have a fleet of 2018 Gas Club Car Tempos with voltage regulators that go out constantly. One in particular has had the regulator replaced three times and it went out again today. I had the starter/generator inspected and tested by a starter rebuild mechanic and it is sending the correct voltage to the regulator. There is not much information out there about the regulators themselves. I am searching for a reason why this is happening and a way to prevent them from going out.

Thank you,

Carter

Default Re: 2018 Gas Club Car Tempo Regulator Failure

Is there anything electrical on the cart? Lights, radio, any other accessories?
This is common with some cheaper aftermarket regulators, but if you've already had to replace several that are original Club Car, then I would say something is definitely wrong in the manufacturing of these.
Try a different brand.
Also I know on the earlier Precedents these are just mounted to plastic near the battery. Normally the regulator is better off being bolted to metal so its case is grounded. If it's not bolted to a metal surface, it may be good idea to make a jumper wire that runs from the mounting bolt to the battery - to give the case a good ground.
Talk to our Club Car guru David Hicks at Revolution Golf Cars and ask if he's had or heard of similar issues. He can also get you OEM parts if needed.
