Default Motor and Controller upgrade USED?

Anyone know where to obtain used components? I want to upgrade the motor and controller but the prices for new are insane. The cart is an 02 ezgo txt series.

Good used upgrade components rarely become available.
Once somebody upgrades, they usually leave upgrade alone.

That's what I was afraid of. What's your opinion on the cheapest motor upgrade? I saw a site that would rebuild them but that was for club cars I think.

The cheapest motor upgrade is to throw off any extra weight, raise the tire air pressure, and recharge the batteries

I checked out plum quick but I thought it said those motors were only for club cars? I definately don't mind throwing a few hundred to rebuild the motor, but there's no way I can spend triple that on a bigger one.

Seriously, The motor is trying to draw full power from the battery pack. If you have dirty or corroded connections or really small gauge cables these could be a source of restriction to the amperage flow.

Also look at upgrading the forward and reverse switch and the batteries. Any weak link in the delivery chain will result in diminished performance.

These are brand new batteries with 4gauge wires. I was looking at your #404 package. Would this controller work on my 36v and still be able to work if/when I upgrade the cart to 48v? It's looking like a controller and 48v are going to be my cheapest option to turn a little bigger tires and be able to actually make it up hills. Is it unheard of to take my batteries to a cart shop and maybe trade them in for 48v with some cash in hand?

Trading in new batteries is not a problem. All you have to do is find a horse trader. Most cart shops have a home for a set of almost new batteries.
404 kit would be fine but I would go with the 202 just for simplicity sake. the 404 kit requires an additional throttle converter that at $35 cost of the kit for an Ezgo application.
The 500 amp Alltrax controller will work on 36 V now and 48 V later. You can download the simple program are free from Alltrax and we sell the interface cable for $15. I pre-program all the controllers before they go out. So you won't have to worry about programming if you don't want to.
