Default six 8-volts versus eight 6-volts

Converting my 95 Medalists (stretched) cart from 36 volts to 48. The question is do I go with six 8-volts, or eight 6-volts?

If there is a difference in the two systems, what is it, and how great is it?

The six battery method would mean no modifications, and probably less weight. I have seen posts here where the extra two batteries were accommodated by moving the FNR and the controller. The FNR would have room under the seat pod, but not sure where and how to mount the controller. Pictures and part numbers would help, if I decide to go the eight battery route.

Thanks,
Reefbreak

6/8v batteries is by far the easiest installation. It is the lightest configuration and it provides the shortest run time.
8/6v batteries weigh a little more and hold 33% more amperage then 6/6 V batteries and 40% more amperage than 6/8v batteries.
The easiest way to install 8/6v batteries is to put two in the rear Bagwell.
48v generally uses less amperage then a similar 36v system. If you go with 6/8v your run time should be about the same as your old 36v system.
However, increased demands can shorten your run-time.

doesn't seem like any good options. Can you do the 8 battery setup without welding? That is of course without using the bag well.

Sent you an email this morning. Im ready to start buying some stuff!
Disc brakes, fnr, controller, solenoid. Send me an email with the package quote.

you can put 8 batts. under the seat, but you will have to modify the fnr switch or use a reversing contactor. also seems like since you have a stretched cart, you good put the two extra batts in the middle pod.
check out otters post right below this. shows how some have done it.

You can just browse through the posts with pics, for how I did mine.
