Default 86 EZ GO secondary clutch spring problem.

86 EZ GO 2 stroke. Can anybody help me find a replacement driven clutch spring or one that can be made to work, or a way to add tension to mine? I've desperately searched the web and made a lot of calls to no avail. I can, but would rather not purchase a new clutch for about $300 CDN + tax & shipping. I've got the engine running nicely but it labors up hills. I could fatten up the jetting one size but I think the secondary is a little weak. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Check with plowmans a site sponsor here.
You can stretch the spring as a stopgap fix, we have done it between rounds on snow mobile clutches.

Are you are that it is not as simple as a worn drive belt? New it should be 1 3/16ths wide. If it is 1 1/16th or less then it may just be slipping under load.

Thanks guys! I actually bought 3-1&1/2 inch washers and die ground out the centers and shimmed the spring on each end. So far so good. The belt should be replaced too.
