Default how much clearance do rear tires need against ubolt plates

i have a 93 marathon i just lifted 6" with blocks in the back now my 23, 10.5, 12 tires dont fit so well. the sidewall of tires are extremely close like about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the top plates on u bolts, do i need spacers or do most rear tires hardly have any clearance
will i be safe to run this close to the plates. the plates are square on edge dont want to tear tires or will they just rub and then can determine i need spacers.

That clearance should be good,If you want, you can bevel and smooth the edges and corners of the plate on the side and corners near the tires,But they should be in the rim/sidewall area, where flex isn't an issue-that distance won't change.Hope this helps.

i looked again its 1/2" clearance and it falls dead inline with the widest sidewall part of the tire. i can shape the plate edges as suggested . i guess it will be fine. it really cant do anything but rub.

Just load it up with weight and see if the side wall gets to close for comfort. I would think a half inch is plenty.

just a thought. this at the top of the tire, right? if so the more you load it the more the bottom will flatten/widen and the top will, if anything get thinner. sound right?
