I can't get the Drive Clutch Off HELP!!!!
I need your help guys. I am more of a reader/searcher than a poster but I am really stuck here. I have a Yamaha G22.
I am having one heck of time getting the bolt off that holds on the drive clutch. I am under the impression it is reverse/ left handed thread but I can't get get it to move either way. How do you guys hold the clutch from spinning? I used a crow bar but I don't want break anything. I tried heat, a pipe on a ratchet, impact gun, nothing is even budging the bolt. Another quick question: Once I get the bolt off, (assuming I do) how does the cluch puller work? Do I just thread it back in until the clutch pops off? Thanks for your help guys. |

There must be someting wrong I cant get this nut to think about moving.
Yes I tried the impact gun. Nothing even budged. I even tried a 4 foot pipe on a ratchett and nothing. I dont want to break or strip anything. How much force does it take to get that bolt off? Last edited by mako19; 01-07-2013 at 07:20 PM.. Reason: forgot to add something |

Re: I can't get the Drive Clutch Off HELP!!!!
The impact should do it with no problem!! Make sure you have the impact set to spin the bolt CCW. Also make sure your air compressor is making good pressure, if it's a pneumatic impact. Have a helper hold the clutch while you run the impact. (It would be best to use a 6 point socket if possible). Bolt should come off straight away. Good luck - RAY

What do you mean CCW ? Counter clock wise?
I thought it was a reverse thread. Doesn't that mean Counter Clock Wise= tight and clock wise= Loosen |

Counter clockwise will take it off. It's a right-hand thread.

Re: I can't get the Drive Clutch Off HELP!!!!
I am now confused.
Just so I understand bare with me here I am just trying not to break it. If I want to take the bolt off I want to turn the top of the bolt to the left or counter clock wise. So the bolt is not reverse/left handed thread? Not that any of it matters because I can't spin it either direction but that is a different problem. I just want to figure out which way to spin it once I figure out how to make it spin. Thanks for the help guys keep it coming. I love the internet. Where else could we share all of this info. |

Yes... counter-clockwise (top to the left) will remove the bolt.
