Default Just finished the Bluegill chameleon plasti dip...

I really wanted to wait until i had the cart put together, but was just too excited to share! Hopefully ill get some time later this week to get her put back together and get some good pics and vids in the sunlight... my gopro battery was dead... all i had way my junk point and shoot camera and the overcast made the pics look terrible. This video came out a little better, but in person it really pops. The color transitions are AWESOME!

The Chameleon Pearl i did last week was too subtle so i peeled it and went this route.
Enjoy!

Ok, took some more photos today after i got everything together. Seriously... these photos do no do it justice. The Chameleon effect is very hard to photograph. Plus im not a professional photographer... so these will have to do. There are so many colors its insane (Dark purples, blues, golds, light green, and copper). Different types of light give very different results... Tomorrow ill try to post a nice walk-around video so you can see the colors change real time... its very cool.

This so far was my favorite cart project yet. Here is what i used:

- About 3 qts of Black Plasti Dip as a base
- About 3 qts of a Clear/Glossifier mix... with 60grams of Bluegill Chameleon Pearl.
I did very little prep work other than washing the panels really well, and making sure it was very dry before the dip went on.

I used a HVLP gravity feed automotive spray gun with 1.8mm nozzle. The Black sprayed very well, and accepted wet coats with no problems (it all dries the same). Though the pearl pigments in the clear was harder to work with. The pigments are a solid just suspended in the clear so you need to make light even coats so that the pigment dosnt build up and "sag" in the paint while drying. I learned as i went, and found you can hide mistakes with a couple proper coats.

Looks GREAT!! How many cans of Plastidip did you use for the base coat? I am thinking of doing another color.

I used 3 14.5oz cans, and thinned them myself (i didnt use the rattle cans) each can after being thinned makes about a quart. So 3 quarts is what it took to get good coverage with the black. When thinning your own dip, you loose some of the pigment of the original color, it was like a very dark charcoal. Which was fine as the Chameleon needs a dark base.
