When you replaced the solenoid did you use a golf cart solenoid? or did you get one from the auto store?

Heavy duty golf cart solenoid. Only lasted 7 months...

Not sure...I'm assuming the solenoid itself. I jacked up the cart, pressed the gas, and tested the two small terminals on the solenoid and got 48v. So I just assumed the solenoid was bad. BTW...the coils were super super hot.

A solenoid is made of two main parts the coil and contactor. The coil is where the small wires when energized magnetically shift the contact together, this closing the circuit and allowing current to flow. If the coil over heat's it will be damage. The contactor it a little more difficult to determine if they are bad because you can't visually inspect for pits which would limit current flow and cause overheating. If this is the first time this happing I would just replace it again and see what happens, it may of been defective from the get go. If it does it again, then it could be a series of things, like over voltage, moisture out a short or a high current spike that burns open the coil.

Any 48 volt DC solenoid, continuous duty should work for your golf cart. Now remember there are 36 volt coils also for golf carts.
