charger question

i have an 06 electric cc and i have a problem with charging. i left the charger on the cart for 9hrs and it didnt shut off, so i put different charger on it and it also didnt shut off. so any ideas? it is boiling over a battery. how exactly does the autoshut down on the charger work?

charger won,t shut off until 16 hours, how bad is it boiling the one battery? how old are they? maybe you need to test them but the charger is set to time out at 16 hours.....and so you know under normal conditions theres nothing wrong with a set of batteries that charge for 10 or 12 hours depending on how discharged they were...................................

they had been pluged in every night and only used maybe 2-3 hours total everyday. how do the autoshut down work is it just an internal timer or is it based on amps or voltage? could one bad battery make the charging process get screwed up?

yes one bad battery can screw things up...............test, load test and check all your cells with a hydrometer and post all the #,s we should be able to tell you whats up...........................................

Has the amp meter dropped? Mine takes about 10 hours for fully charge. Also make sure the batteries aren't dry and filled above the plates. Use distilled water though. good luck.

so i replaced the battery that boiled over. put a known good charger on over night and it was off when i checked in the morning, i then pluged in the original charger and within five mins it shut down. i have load tested the battery that boiled over and it checked out fine. i do not have a hydrometer for batterys, only coolant. i need to try to figure out why it boiled over so i dont end up with another acid stain on my garage floor. landlord wont be to happy about this one.yes ern88 the ammeter dropped at a usaul pace

You probably have another battery that has a shorted cell. The one that " boils over " may just be overfilled. What happens with a bad cell, is the pack voltage is lower and the charger is trying to achieve a constant, higher voltage. This results in all the other batteries being overcharged! In my opinion, you have a bad battery still in your pack. The one you removed is probably Ok.
