Default Re: Heavy Duty F&R swich for 03 Series Cart

[QUOTE=sonicj;625920]so the fact that i have never personally changed a gearset in a golf cart disqualifies me from mentioning it to someone else as a possible solution?

I could suggest you go solar on your house and save a ton of money on your electric bill.
I've never done it but the facts are out there. Solar power = no Edison bill.
In reality you will spend tens of thousands of dollars buying solar equipment. Same $ will pay your electric bill for the life of the system without any big investment or maintenance issues. One guy I know says his battery bills alone are killing him...

Is lowering the gear ratio 20% going to make enough of a difference in trying to overcome a tire which has 30-40% larger diameter?

Lowering the gear ratio will no doubt help but, I don't think there are gears available which will make up the torque losses from big off road tires.
It may be a supplemental improvement to a controller upgrade IMO.

I changed all the wires to 2 guage and added 1/4 plate to the back of the F& R. Its like a new cart even with the 25's and stock controller. I can't wait until I put in the new controller.
