welding on the frame ?
i got a receiver tube for a hitch but instead of welding it to a piece of steel then bolting it on i would rather just weld it straight to the frame under the rear bagwell. should the batteries and/or the controller be disconnected to prevent any damage or anything else to look out for?

Re: welding on the frame ?
I have done it both ways without damage. THere should be no connection between the frame and the pack but why take chances?

Re: welding on the frame ?
As have I but "best practice" is to disconnect any electronic components to avoid damage.

Re: welding on the frame ?
Yeah. As you say, I've welded many times on vehicles without disconnecting electrical components, and never (knock on wood) had a problem. Of course, as soon as I tell someone else that it's ok to do so, they will fry something.

Re: welding on the frame ?
we weld on them here at our shop and never disconnect anything unless we are fixing the battery tray or alike. When/if we weld our hitches on we just do it.
