48 volt PDS
I have from a pds cart and am a Napa autocare center ,I can get 8v batteries cheap would I gain any speed with this conversion if I stayed stock controller .I could always use the extra torque as the hills where I am are steep . I am also going to change my cables to 4 gauge and not lifting the cart but will be puting on low profile tires I guess my question is,is top speed regulated by controller ,I have a freedom chip now

Re: 48 volt PDS
Your stock controller will not take 48Volts. I recently did a cart for a customer with Alltrax DCX controller and upgraded motor. Going from 36 to 48 volts made a huge difference in torque and noticable difference in speed. He was very happy with it.

Re: 48 volt PDS
Do the controller and 4 gauge cables first, by all means. going 48 volts is always suggested, but not something that has to be done... The Alltrax will handle 36 or 48 volts. You'll need the cables anyway...

Re: 48 volt PDS
We recently refurbished a 36v PDS cart and installed 8v batteries and a 300amp Alltrax.... the cart was noticeable quicker with the 48v but the controller was a little on the small side...... Don't forget to get a 48v contactor (solenoid)
