mdefelice - how about some pictures of your setup so we can diagnose? I'm assuming these parts came from a WORKING cart? If you try to jump the solenoid, will she fire off then?

I still can't pick the solenoid. Should I get something out of the controller to make the coil with 36 volts? I see the diagram but don't understand the path. I used all the parts from the cart. I replaced the solenoid and now if I jumper it the motor will run forward and reverse. The micro switch in the foot pedal is broken but doesn't seem to have an effect when I run it.Still Puzzled.
I think old age has caught up.

thanks Mike

I bought the parts from a golf cart junk yard. The controller was bad so I don't think they had anyway of checking. This is the 2nd setup from them and I never had a problem before. They sent the replacement controller with the wiring so I have assumed it is the right one.

Should there be voltage on the orange or red wire coming out of the controller? If yes when?

It's not going to do anything if that microswitch is broke. If it is, then something is wrong. That microswitch is part of the solenoid activation circuit. Red is 36 volt positive INPUT. The orange is for reverse buzzer. If you have a series controller the diagram scotty posted is the right one. You need all those parts to make it work period.

If I don't have red coming out of the controller does that mean the controller is bad?

The foot micro is closed all the time. The metal arm is broken off it. It looks to be like I need voltage on the Orange wire to energize the solenoid?? I have ground all the time on one terminal

Can you describe the path with voltage to pick the solenoid? I have a blk ground wire on one side. I need to understand how the red wire gets 36volts.

That micro is an N.O. switch...if the arm is broken off the circuit is open. (unless it really screwed up) It needs to be closed for the solenooid to activate.

Does the red/white wire going back to the charger fixture have anything to do with the pick for the solenoid?
