Default EZ GO resistor coil

Does a resistor coil have to be broke (severed) to be bad? Tried a new cart repair guy today who told me mine is bad. Removed the cover and it is all in tact....? 1987 36V EZGO

thanks

It only needs one break to not work, do you have any pics of it post them, that would tell the story

Unless the resistors physically broken, simply looking at them, it's pretty hard to tell if they are any good. Putting a meter across the resistors will tell you instantly if you have continuity. You won't really know the integrity of the connections until you put some amperage across them.

there is continuity (beep) between each terminal or should I be looking for a number on the meter? 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4
Thanks for your reply and Happy New Year.

A coil cold may read on the meter but at the instance of current will heat and go open.

A coil can make a bad contact where the mounting bolts go through it. All the years of hot, cold, hot, cold....might wanna unbolt, clean and put it back together. I've seen that happen.
