Pack balance quandry?
Put 6 "L9" T105's in my cart on Friday afternoon.
Initial charge...perfect! 6 cycles of running till 80% charged and then a complete charge cycle Voltages are all within 0.02 volts of each other. Specific gravities are all within 0.003 of the 1.276 optimum. Discovered that the #4 battery has a leak along the top seam and has lost about 1/4" of electrolyte!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know I will get a new replacement with no problems but, Do I just drop the new battery back into the #4 spot and proceed with break-in? (will it "catch up" to the rest of the pack?) Do I need to charge it by itself and then install it? Do I need to charge/discharge it an equal number of times separately and then install? I am hoping to make this pack last a good long time so what is the best solution for the health and longevity of the pack????????? Here is another little dilemma I have been wrestling with... Every day I drive the cart to work (2 miles) and home for lunch (2 miles). When I get home, I plug in the charger and go in the house for about 40 minutes, unplug it and drive back to work. It seems to like this since it hauls Butt going back to work but, is this short charging on a regular basis a bad practice? Thanks for any replies...Russ. |

Recharging after each use us considered normal and good.

Re: Pack balance quandry?
I would charge the new battery up to where it matches the others and proceed with your break in

Re: Pack balance quandry?
I ended up calling the guy and getting him to pick one out for me.
He gave me the static voltage of that one and I ran the pack down to that voltage. Installed the new one and charged them all up together. Dang! my automotive charger is for 12 volt only. (thought it was 12/6volt) Thanks. |
