As you increase voltage the call for amperage drops. 400a is enough for all but the mud boggers at 48v

Also New Orleans YAT has a used 400 amp progamable Alltrax controller in the for sale section for a series cart. Thats what I would do unless you wanted a new controller.
Thank you Sir, I will take a look at what he has posted. With the 400amp controller on the 36 volt system what will that get me for now, until I can change out the rest?

Ah yes, the days of Ohm's law are playing back in my mind now! lol

I don't need a whole lot of speed, don't want the kids to crash it in the woods going 25+ mph into a tree. Just want a little more ummph to it on the flats, and a little more climbing power.

Yes, especially since the brakes are horrible when lifted, even worse after some mud and dirt gets in them.

400 amp should do you fine right now until you can do more upgrades. We ran our 500 amp on 36 volts for one hunting season and it did fine. it was just slower going up steep hills than we liked. It will definitely give you more torque which I think you are looking for.

Don't need a new solenoid until I go to 48 volts then, correct?

I put on a HD solenoid when I switched controllers. Might want to ask the experts if you need one. I expect they will say better to be safe and get a HD unit.

Your stock ezgo unit should handle the 400a controller just fine. Be sure to install a 400a fuse link between the battery pack and the controller.

Before you jump on a 400amp or larger controller, note that you will also need an upgraded FNR switch to handle the amperage.

All I upgraded were the buss bars on my FNR switch before I went to 48 volts. Toasted it after I switched to 48 volts though.
