Need help charging question

just bought my 09 club car about 3 weeks ago. was fully charged when i bought it. went to charge it for the first time. i have a powerdrive 3 charger. when i plug it in the amps jump up to 10 then falls back to zero. so i took my regular battery charger and charged each indiidual battery for 40 minutes. then plugged my main charger back in. it worked for a second then cut back off. the weird thing is i cut the lights on and it went up to 10 and now is holding steady at about 3. is it charging now?

i know thats not normal with the lights having to be on for it to charge if thats what it is doing? please advise, thanks.

if its at 3 amps yes its charging......leave it go till it shuts off drive the cart for 5 or 10 miles and put charger back on.....post what happens........................

You had your cart three weeks and this is the first charge? Did you wait for the cart to not run anymore before charging?

Remember this from now on, if you are not using it then plug the charger in, that all you have to do except for regular battery maintenance. Do not run your batteries too low, if the light comes on you are abusing your bats.

Get yourself a voltmeter and check your battery charges.

To add to the other posts, Do Not turn anything on while your batteries are charging! The voltage produced can fry converters and lights!

i was out of town for 2 weeks, my wife drove the kids around. i told her to charge it if the charge meter gets below 50 percent. it was one bar below when i got back and wouldnt charge. the only way i can get it to stay at 3 amps is to leave the lights on.

ok just went back out there, not charging even with lights on. what to do?

Check each bat voltage and report back and do not run accessories while charging.

not to sound stupid but how do i check the voltage of each battery?

You need a volt meter that you can get at say harbor freight tools for like 16 bucks, then test each bat by putting red on positive and black on negative. Set meter to 20 volt setting. Test the whole pack also bu putting red on main positive and black on main negative but have to set meter at 200 volt setting
