It sounds like that is exactly what is happening to him with the parallel packs.

I just put 3 of the Allied 48v batteries in my RXV and have had the same problem and this is the response that Allied gave me.

It sounds like you might need to turn down your controller. Sometimes the RXVs draw too much current to the batteries from the regen system and they can shut down as you described. Most EZGO dealers are capable of turning down the regen braking and acceleration on the controller.
Note: This will not reduce the overall speed of the cart. This will simply reduce the amount of current going back into the batteries.

In a cart that has no wheel brakes and all braking is done by regen, turning down the regen and thus available braking, doesn't seem to be the way to go.
I read this as Allied is saying you have to adjust your carts' performance to accommodate their batteries. Not what I would want to do. 2 cents.

Like Kernal said, that is NOT an option on the RXV. Limiting Regen current effectively limits your only method of braking on the RXV, and other AC drive carts. They will need to redesign their 48V packs to accept the higher regen rate, or they will not be compatible with the RXV, and nearly all of the newer generation of carts that are using the more efficient AC drive systems. If the pack opens circuit during regen, it WILL soon permanently damage the controller from overvoltage! Batteries going open circuit is never an acceptable operating condition for any cart that uses a modern electronic speed control system. Allied should KNOW this, or they are in the wrong business!

You will likely find that it will take a minimum of 4 parallel 48V packs to properly operate an RXV.

I agree and have told Allied that I am not accepting that answer. Once I told them that they are now saying something must be wrong with one of the batteries and have agreed to take them back. This tells me that they know they have a problem.

No, I never found a solution. Not using full throttle on hills works for now.
