Re: My 1987 Marathon Build thread
I must have not only a block lift on the front, but a drop axle as well. I am noticing that everyone else's is straight across and mine isn't.

Re: My 1987 Marathon Build thread
Someone must have switched the front end. That would also explain why the coil overs have loops on both ends as well.

Re: My 1987 Marathon Build thread
Alright - here's a couple of pics of the front end, stock with a 5" "block" lift ... This is from the front (to show the axle and the lift blocks):
Here's from the side (through the wheel well) which shows the original springs, as well as the shocks (stud type) mounted to the extenders: now, let's see a couple of good ones of your front end, maybe we can get to the bottom of the issue once and for all (and for the record, there's a Marathon axle on Ebay right now, so worse case scenario, you at least know you can find the parts to restore the front end if you need to) |

Re: My 1987 Marathon Build thread
Pics of the front suspension as promised. I think someone did a front suspension change on mine.
Here you can see what looks like a drop axle. You can see the lift blocks in this pic Here you can see the shocks (coil overs) have a loop at each end. The scary part.... here you can see where they heated up the metal to bend the steering arm down |
