lite feathering of gas pedal, only way to GO

Our 89 DS and the neighbors 84 both will not GO with a heavy foot, they only GO with very lightly feathering of the GO pedal. Does it in Forward and Reverse.
Any suggestions?

Try putting it in maintenance mode, popping the seat off, and making sure that your linkage is operating correctly by watching the operation of the linkage arm that hooks to the carb as you push the pedal.
