Default Charger

I have a 48 volt fair play cart. My charger has quit it is a crows foot style charger, I have a good Yamaha 48 volt charger (3 pin) that i would like to use on a temporary basis. It is my understanding that the third pin is a sensor on the Yamaha. I was told i could hook the third pin to the ground and it would work but would not shut off so it will overcharge if you do not watch it. Anyone have any experience with this.
