Re: 85 ezgo marathon lift
As I said in the PM, 5" is a lot more lift than people think, much less 6" lift. I thought that Jakes 4" lift was not near enough, and I ordered a 5" lift. Hindsight 20/20, 4" of lift with a proper drop axle is plenty for me. There is no way I can get mine bottomed out on anything on my farm. 6" of block lift I think is asking for a leaf spring to break. On my 5" lift, you can put your foot on the front axle, kick it and watch the front axle curl under the cart by 2" I bet!! Not good.

Re: 85 ezgo marathon lift
Even though I too built a 3 inch block type lift, I have to agree with mopar92. I think a 6 inch lift of this type would be a little much. Remember, since the axel is straight, it is still at the same location, only the wheels and tires raise the axels height. I was surprised just how well the 3 inch lift and 22 inch tires worked to get me through the woods and trails. If you go too tall with the tires, you might be sorry you don’t have enough power to pull the hills.

You will lose bottom end with the 23" or so tires... It's a gearing thing. I'm telling you. Jakes 4" drop axle is the way to go... This is coming from a guy who has gone your route already..

Re: 85 ezgo marathon lift
ok thanks a lot guys i looked the lift kit up. i learned it aint worth it to make my own cuz in the end ill end up buyin more parts to fix the castors and all that. although the kit is about $250, it looks like my only option. also i only could find the one for the 89 and up. where did u mopar92 buy yours? where is the cheapest place to get it? thank u all for your time and the money u saved me!

Re: 85 ezgo marathon lift
If you are going to drive it slow, and very light 4 wheelin, then a block kit is just fine. If you drive it at all near max speed, or plan on going through big ditches and things, I would not reccomend a block lift. There are block lifts on ebay for a little over $50, just know their limitations. To me, $55 shipped later, I'd have called Jakes and put a 1" block on it to make 5". 1'' block wouldnt have thrown it that much out of whack..
