Cart looses power after running long time
I have a Husqvarana UTV I'm told is made by Club Car. I have seen parts in the engine area stamped wth Club Car. The engine I believe is a Kawasaki FE350?. Whe I drive it for long drives it will sound like the muffler is broken and will loose power. I notice this because I have to climb a few hill coming back to my house. I have recently taken it back to the place i bought it and had a full service done. The back firing stopped, but the loss of power still exist. It also now feels like something is dragging the brakes. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

Re: Cart looses power after running long time
Hi again, It sounds like it's getting hot. A leak in the exhaust will make an engine run poorly and make it louder. It may leak only after it heats up. I would check the exhaust for leaks and then clean the cooling fins and be sure the fan area is clear. An air leak on the intake side will make it run hot also.
Your brakes may be dragging, that will cause power and heat problems too. It's hard to say, I'm not sure what we're looking at. I don't have that manual.... |

Re: Cart looses power after running long time
The mechanic at the cart shop said he thought it may be the govenor? I never let the cart hit the rev limit. They must have adjusted my brakes. I could freeroll before, when I let off the accelerator I would roll to a stop more or less. Now when i let off the cart acts like an electric cart with an electric brake. I'll check for the exhaust leak when the rain lets up. Thanks!

Re: Cart looses power after running long time
Hey John, Can you jack up the rear of the cart and spin the wheels?
If it is under a warranty or a new purchase and not a hassle then by all means request that the Dealer/seller readjust the brakes. You can adjust them yourself as well. Valve adjustment or even compression might play in the slow down after it gets hot. If not under warranty and you would like to do your own maintenance and repairs the service manual would be money well spent. It also has a troubleshooting guide. The first time you don't have to take it in for repairs will pay for the manual. Keep us posted. |

Re: Cart looses power after running long time
so after looking at the cart with a friend noticed The belt on the clutch appears a little loose. How tight should they be? Could this be a contributing factor? How do you tighten one? I'm gonna take the cover off the fan and check to see if it's clean.

Re: Cart looses power after running long time
I have had problems with Club Car gas motors loosing power and not running after getting hot and the issue was the rpm limiter was going bad.
