Default Brakes

A friend of mine has developed a problem with an Electric Club Car but I figure the same applies to Gas versions, it lies within the plastic supports for the brake rod under the floor. These seem to be distorting fairly regularly and i've replaced two sets in the last three months. It appears to begin with the D/S lower support breaking up followed by the P/S lower and renders the cart virtually unstopable. Other than that, the brakes work just fine and are well adjusted with new shoes and drums. Could this just be a bad batch of support brackets or am I missing something here ? All components appear to be visually straight and free to move.
Thanks folks,

Chris.
