Welcome to BGW!
Your ezgo is a 2 stroke Marathon .... the motor runs forward or reversed to give you forward and reverse direction. A 4 cycle engine can not do that ~ so you won't have reverse. I don't know that i have seen anybody put one in a cart with the drive belt going side to side... You will have to look around here and see what you can find on that?
Also look into refurbishing the old motor or replace with a similar 2 stroke. Good Luck

The easiest way to upgrade is swap in a rear axle setup from a 88-94 Marathon 4-stroke cart. They have the transmission in them.Work perfect for your application
