re-assembling driven clutch
Need a little help here guys.. I disassembled my driven lookin for a rattle while the cart was moving. I found three severely worn buttons. Heres the problem. When I got the snap ring off and wiggled the cam to get it to slide off, this SOB came apart so fast I wasn't able to see how much it was pre-loaded. Here's my question. I'm settin it back on 2. With no load the cam is sittin right above the buttons. Do I twist it down in the seat just past the buttons it's above or do I need to fight it around to the next button and push it down in the seat past it? I wasn't sure seein how the clutch exploded during tear down and wasn't sure bout the pre-load. Thanks in advance. If more precise description is need let me know and I'll try to get some pics..

I believe the correct setting is turn the sheave 140 degrees and set it? I think that is what it should be if not someone will correct me !!

Re: re-assembling driven clutch
Are you calling the sheave what I'm callin the cam? The first piece to come off with one hole for the spring just under the spring clip. And the rotation is from no load to 140 and lock down with clip? Just tryin to be sure, cuz I've already tried to reset once and it aint no walk in the park. When you get it loaded you better have your sh## together cuz you can't hold it long. That load spring is strong!!

Re: re-assembling driven clutch
Hey BBM, I just caught your post while replying to bowtie's post. I thought 140 would be close to right. So from no load, rotate it past the next button and lock it down in that valley. Thanks man. You can't stand too many tries with this thing. After a couple of tries you gotta sit back and regroup...

Re: re-assembling driven clutch
Its real easy with a helper, mark helix where point is and mark sheave where ramp is. Mark sheave which way to turn it to tighten spring. Start helix on shaft until level with shaft. Now have helper hold bottom sheave and rotate top sheave past marks by about 3/4" and hold both halves push or tap helix on and install snap ring. Piece of cake!!!!
