Default shocks for a g1

I need new shocks for my g1. Anyone got any ideas? fond this on ebay. Honda TRX 400 FW 95-03 Rear Progressive 512 Type Shocks. I got 6" lift on it now. Do you think they would be to long. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-TRX-400-FW-95-03-Rear-Progressive-512-Type-Shocks-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem588650a6b0QQitemZ38021 0554544QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories[/URL]

I don't know how to transfer a website so just copy and paste this one. sorry.

Do you think they would work?

the rears dont have near as much travel as the fronts on those i know that. I am running 4 fronts all the way around on my G1 and they work great. They give about 4" of lift over the stock shocks. I dont know the exact travel or spring rate on the rears but you can check it on google im sure if you want to go that way.

You will have to measure eye to eye extended on the stock shocks... Then you will have to measure extended eye to eye on the others...

i got mine on ebay....if you shop around you can get them for about $60 per pair shipped (maybe $50 if you have time to wait and hunt) the 400ex shocks will give you 4" of lift. the lenght of them extended is 16.25" and the length of your g1 shocks are right about 12" if i remember correctly. if you have any other questions let me know and i will help ya in any way i can.

Doing a search on ebay for "ATV shocks" brings up 23 pages of possibilities. I have been using the cheap made-in-China shocks which I assume Chuddly is referring to.They seem to work well. Your stock front shocks are 11 3/4" and rear are 12 3/4" eye-to-eye. If you have a 4" lift you could use something like this in the rear:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15-ad...mZ150397270647

You will need to make an upper bracket to lift the rear one more inch or so to level it out. The attached pic is of a bracket style that works well. 1 1/4" tubing inside of 1 1/2" tubing. Just make it to the length you need. These shocks work great if you have a utility box or rear seat on the back.

no i am not talking about the those cheap china shocks. 400ex shocks are shocks off a Honda 400 ex quad. they are EXCELLENT shocks and you just buy them used off someone on ebay. If you are going to use them on the front you have to change where your lower control arms mount because of the alignment issues you will have

If you can get OEM Honda shocks for that price, that seems to be a better way to go. 16.25" shocks should bolt right in the rear with no mods if you have a 4" lift. The front setup may take a little work. How did you do it? Post some pix!
