Default Gear Oil Question

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I'm going to change out the gear oil on my G2 as I'm pretty sure that it has never been done. The owner's manual says to use SAE 90w. Went into Advance Auto and they don't carry a 90w oil. Instead, the guy, who I'm pretty sure didn't know what he was talking about, handed me a bottle of Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil that said "75w-90" and said "my guess is that this should work just fine." I wanted to check with the pros on this before I changed it out... thanks!

I changed mine this summer and used Mobil 1 75w-90. No problems. You'll need RTV blue gasket goop, too.

So the cover doesn't leak. The G16 doesn't have a drain plug so the cover has to be removed to drain the rear. Is there a drain plug on the G2?

G2 and G9 both have a drain plug: 17mm or 19mm on the bottom of the housing. There is also a fill hole on the upper side of the rearend housing on the clutch side. Should have a little vent tube running down to a clamp/holder.
