G-14 - Lift and plug question
Just like Manny's thread (started a new one so I didn't highjack his) I am experiencing an oil soaked spark plug. Cart seems to run fine, has 172 compression (spot on with book), and smokes alot. Oil is not overfull, and it has a brand new carb and air filter. Brand new plug only ran 1/2 tank before now it needs to be replaced. This is a new to me cart that has been sitting up 3 or so years if that matters.
Second question is concerning the lift kit I installed last night (ordered when I thought cart ran good). I have a left over bracket that I dont appear to need. The instructions (or lack thereof) says it is for the sway bar. Any ideas are appreciated. As a side, I assume the new angle of the engine is acceptable, I have read on here it is, just make sure still to only use 1 quart oil and not use dipstick. I hate how little clearance the rear has, but it is what it is. Thanks again for the help. |

Sounds like the valve guides may be leaking.
If I remember correctly, the triangle piece usually goes on the rear driver's side where you have the flat piece of steel dropping the sway bar about an inch. |

I agree with Spriddle on both accounts. Could be you have colapsed oil rings, you'd still have good compression, but the bad oil rings are letting oil past the compression rings.

THANKS Mike. Your gear is extremely clean and neat. Looks like someone has done some welding on my cart, the bracket does not match up to any existing holes. Might just leave it like it is, seemed to ride fair enough.
As far as the leaking valve guides, I am probably going to have to get someone a little more experienced than myself involved. I am sure after you have repaired 3,000 cart, it is no big deal, but I am a little intimidated about messing with the engine guts. Thanks so much for you help. I will post some pictures of "The Tank" this weekend. Will I cause any damage running the cart with leaky valve guide or a collapsed oil ring until I get some gaskets here as long as I ensure there is oil in the engine? |

The Panhard bar is to short, and will pull the rear end over to the side. You need to try to make the triangle piece fit.
If the car hasn't run in 3 yrs. I would drive it awhile, and see if the oil situation clears up. |

ive had alot of experiance with carts sitting what i do is pull plug put atf in turn it over alot put old plug in turn over to get atf out then change plug and tr again the atf should release the stuck rings also could be the valve seal on exhaust side good luck

The sway bar at that angle will cause more sway as the

Its doing all the things Dooms says, but with the car now lifted 6" its created an unsafe driving characteristic. Someone could get hurt, with it like it is.

same cart, new question guys. After changing the spark plug the smoking has cleared up. Rode it hard this weekend and the cart brkoe down. The starter turns, but the starter belt just squeels and wont turn the motor over. Does this mean I have locked the motor up and it is ruined? The cart has oil in it. Is there a way to determined if the motor is locked up on it? Any advice on my meek sounding outlook is appreciated.
