Re: seat wood
It wasn't meant to be sarcasm lol, I actually did have the wood base and backs right in front of me for an easy measurement.

Re: seat wood
Not saying aluminum is a bad idea, I would consider the possibility of an electrical short to any wiring coming close to the seat panel including any flexing. If it is wood backed already, I would leave out the aluminum and opt for paint.

Re: seat wood
I don't know if you can a much better seat base than 1/2" plywood, if I had some alluminum that size at my disposal soemthing in the lines of hinged doors for the dash cubbys would be on my design table.

Re: seat wood
The seat I have is rotted right next to the aluminum strip underneath on the front and a bit in the back. Looks to be about an inch and a half that is gone from the front. Quite a bit. Wanted to get a good measurement from it originally but the thing is so far gone that it sits at an angle while leaning against the wall. Looks as thought the armrests might be a tad bent also. Foam is completely tore up and half gone too. Just bought new foam at 50% off right before christmas. I think that was a JoAnn fabric store. And I see in one of the cart catalogs I have that they sell the covers in different colors. Looks just like OEM. Blue, green, red, yellow. I forget how many colors they have right off hand. The only ones I have seen other than the stiched ones in which I'd be worried that it would be a sponge.
No wires near the seat to deal with any shorts other than the f-n-r switches. That would be a good bend to touch those. Tired of test running this and breaking in the rebuilt motor while standing. Do what you gotta do. Thanks a70! |

Re: seat wood
I don't know ess, at this point that title could just as well have 2 meanings. Almost completely finished with total rebuild. Cart was free from father-in-law after discussions of parting her out from what was good on that motor. Come to find out how easy it was and that nothing major was wrong. The $300 crank ended up being perfectly fine. I think the valve job was the major issue since it sat for years without a plug. Then ground new tappets at work to spec. New seals and gaskets. And bearings bought cheap from my work. Needs paint, new wheels and tires and she'll be ready for the season. Can't wait to show the neighbors that this was the P.O.S. that sat out back the camper for so long. I know he had doubts.
I could go on with the extras I added. All stainless screws and bolts where they are seen. Which means no rust streaks down the body. And the 6 inch lift. Many more that I did myself. Wish I had a working cam for pics. |
