Default 48v Charger Plug Conversion

Bought an EZ GO 48v QE charger that came with a three prong plug. My local cart shop converted it to the two prong that will plug in to the factory 36v plug that was on the cart. What was the third prong for and will this work properly without damaging anything. It seems to work OK as it charges and cuts off. Just don't want to harm the batteries or the charger in the long run.

I have been told the third stud is a "safety" circuit breaker that keeps the cart from operating when it is plugged in. Basically there to keep you from driving off while you're plugged in. Hopefully scotty or one of the other guys will chime in on this subject to confirm or disprove whether this is correct.

Kward
I was trying to do the same as you. Can you tell me which of the three wires was not used wiring into the two prong plug? I called DeltaQ, and they told me the conversion couldn't be done. Apparently it can. Thanks

Opened up the plug and the green wire is not being used, only the black and white.

One more question (I don't want to mess this up). What color is the wire closest to the curved part of the plug?
