"The Drive's" govenor is simular to all 4 cycle Yamaha's. Remove the service panel and on top of the transaxle you will see the govenor arm with the 2 accelreator cables (1-from the pedal and 1 to the carberator) and the govenor adjustment rod with a 12mm head nut. Turn the nut "in/clockwise" to increase the speed. Or better yet, buy one of http://www.cartpartsplus.com/ govenor speed springs. Funny thing, had a customer today with a 2011 gas "The Drive" we installed a speed spring on and he complained it was slow, brought into the shop and ran it....It runs so fast (from 10 to 12mph stock), now probably 25mph and he thinks it's slow? He should have bought my bigblock car Then he would of had some speed and torque Can't please everyone

The rod pointing at/close to the generator (at top in photo). Tighten that nut on the end of it against that lever. It will pull that spring tighter, therefor the governor inside the trans has to gain more speed to develop more pressure to close the throttle. Looks like it is around 1/4-1/3 the way down the threads now.

That secondary looks a lot different than older carts.

That looks like a Drive YDR Purple spring gives it away. Be very careful if it is under 2009. I have seen the governor fingers (3 weights) break. The only way to tell is you end up with no governor. If that happens you wont know because you have the governor cranked up. If it is left too long the fingers can eventually fall off then your screwed. They get picked up in the gears.

I turned it about half way down, not all the way. it is a 2011 model.
