The shocks are working good Darth! We had a bunch of, well, intoxicated people on the rear of the cart over the weekend, who tried to get me to roll down a state highway to another guys house.....gezzz, these campground people....what will you do with them? Anyway, no rubbing issues at all. Just a little high of a step now for those whom have consumed too much!

I don't know, you might put them in front of you, and drive over them to see if you have any clearance issues!!...Naa maybe not!

Anyway, glad you got your problems straight! Hope the wife is still letting you sleep in the house! And don't spend any more money on that (as my wife calls it) "Crappin Cart"!!

Have a good one, Mike/Darth

McMaster Carr springs arrived today and I installed them in about twenty minutes. Simply put them in the press enough to get the retainers off and on. I have no idea if they will perform better or worse because there is really no great guage to do so...
The old ones were designed in a progressive mode with some coiled already tight at one end and them open the rest of the way to the other. The McMaster Carr have no compressed coils at all. They were a PERFECT fit!! In the short drive I have taken it seemed to be much stiffer. I am picking up some steel tomorrow to fab up a rear seat and then I will know more as it gets some weight on it. Hey at $35 conmpared to $100 it is sure worth trying. Seems OK so far.

Mike Mac - Do you have a number I can call you at for some technical questions regarding the roof tie in to the rear seat? I may want to talk to you.

Hog, PM sent.
If the springs are stiffer than the stock ones, I bet your fine. Mine aren't as stiff as I always think they are. I can cycle them with out much effort.

As far as the seat back, I took a picture for Mason on how I attached the roof support. I can't find it now, but it may be in one of Mason's threads. If not then I will take another.

Here is another I found of how I attached the seat base. If you use your seat mount in a similar manner,(doing double duty), You should reinforce it in some way like I did. Down to the frame.

Yea, hogman, that's where we were stumped, but we welded in a solid channel across the seat/rear support and tied the seat back to it.

Mike,
Found the top support picture you sent to stuff4mason. I have to remember that I am working on a G16 and there are some differences between ours. My tubes coming down from the top are aluminum and actually have some 90 degree bends in them that attach them to the sweater basket. They don't go straight in to hit the seat back brackets. Once I remove the basket...no more place to attach. (Hope that is clear as mud...) I have some ideas and will try to take pics as I fabricate. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

I just looked at some more pictures of Spot and realized that you did exactly what I was thinking about!!! did you put a bend in the aluminum down tubes from the top so that they would indeed line up with the reamining seat bracket after the sweater basket was gone? Great minds think alike!

Just change according to your use and what you have to work with. The only thing, the roof support on mine is very stout. and I like that. Didn't start out to make it that way,Well thinking back, kinda did!!! but that's how it turned out. Got lucky. I can push or pull my car around by the frames.

Do what Mason did, He welded probably a 1" square tube across from seat frame to seat frame attaching them together. Then attached the roof support to that lateral piece.

Ok, you got it! Mine had that bend in it, and I took advantage of it. And thats where the strength came from. As well as 4 supports in front instead of 2.

Here's a couple pictures you might make use of.

The 3rd picture is of the flip seat, I welded nuts there for a bolt to act as a hinge.

Hog. dump this thread and start a build thread. Many people will want to see what your doing.

I should have done it, but didn't think I was doing anything people would want to see.
