Have you checked the local laws....not relying on a cop telling you?

Locally, there are numerous locations that they can be driven without plates. It is based on the road and speed limit.

I have checked and anywhere on a public (not private) roadway, you need a registered, titled and insured vehicle in Florida. Just the same as a car. On the other forum, I have found reference to state documents relating to that and what qualifies as an LSV.

I have an E-Z-GO 2Five LSV. Like you, I needed auto insurance to be street legal in Wisconsin. Progressive couldn't do it and a typical golf cart policy wouldn't cut it. My insurance guy worked on it for a few weeks and I switched most of my insurance to Wilson Mutual. I don't think they're in Florida. Keep trying. Insurance for a LSV is tough because they're still relatively new. Good luck!

Spawn, That is nice that you had it added to your RV policy. If you just ride it around a private campground, that will be fine. If you drive it on Florida public streets, it has to be registered as an LSV and there are a lot of requirements that have to be met. If you just have golf cart insurance, you could have had it added to your homeowners policy as a rider.

A golf cart is not an LSV. My EZGO is now listed as a 2011 LSV, not an EZGO golf cart. My insurance tried to pull that one me until I educated them on what I needed. They are looking into adding it as a separate vehicle on my auto policy so far.
