PDS troubles
i'm working on a pds that they ran the batteries dead and towed it home without putting it in tow mode. they charged the battieries and the only thing that happens is the relay clicks. it is working but the cart won't move. i would have to assume that the controller is fried, but when i read over the troubleshooting guide it points to a motor problem. i've got 35.4 on my pack voltage and i have 5v from my b- to mt a1 motor stud and i have 35.4 from b- to a2 motor stud. on the flow chart it says replace motor. i dont mind replacing the motor but it seemed kind of odd to me that the motor would fail and not the controller if it was towed in the run position. anyone have and ideas before i buy a motor? yes i know that the batteries are weak and it is getting new ones but i would think that 35.4 would be enough to make the cart budge or something.

Re: PDS troubles
The controller might be going into Low-Voltage shutdown at 35.4 Volts.
Can you get it into Diagnostic Mode? The controller might tell you what it thinks is wrong. |

Re: PDS troubles
Agree about running controller diagnostics. Your pack voltage is very marginal (as you know). If you have a jack, you could raise the rear end off the ground (reduce motor load) and see if the tires will turn when you press the accelerator.

Re: PDS troubles
You may be looking at a motor, controller, & Batteries? Towing in run will fry the motor, the shorted out motor will fry the controller.

Re: PDS troubles
Get down in there and smell that thing, you'll be able to tell if you need a new one

Re: PDS troubles
i did try the Diagnostic Mode and i got 4 beeps and nothing else. the one thing i didn't do and not sure why i didn't think about it is watching the pack voltage when i press the thottle to see what happens. this happend about 2 months ago so im not sure if i could still smell it or not but i did talk to a guy tonight who was there and he said it just smelled really hot when they got it home. thanks for the ideas and i'll try to work on it more tomorrow night.

Re: PDS troubles
i checked the pack voltage tonight and it's at 35.6. i know it's low but i would assume that it still should be enough to make it budge. i've checked the relay and it's working but no draw on the batteries. i guess if i can smell anything burnt all i can to is follow the flow chart that says to change the motor.
