Default Re: Project

I'm trying to get the nomenclature correct ... the "module" just before the spark plug - the one the plug wire comes from (is that the "ignition coil"?) might be the problem. Of the 3 wires leading to it I get power to one (tested at the connector) -- the same as on my running cart. My conclusion is that the problem therefore lies between that connection and the spark plug. I have already replaced the plug, so that narrows it down to the ignition coil, the wires leading to it and the plug wire. I don't believe I can separate the plug wire from the coil (at least not without damage) so I assume the problem is the ignition coil. Does that make sense?
In the pictures the component I'm calling the 'ignition coil' is on the right-center of the close-up pick (with the plug wire coming out of it).
The other 2 pics are of the engines in my 2 carts -- slightly different looking especially noticeable around the muffler connections. The first one is the new cart, the other is my running cart.

the coil is in the first pic, it has the big fat lead that goes to the spark plug,

restance between the orange and the red with white stripe should be between 3.57 and 4.83 ohms,

restance between the spark plug wire with the "cap" removed should be between 11.2 and 15.2 ohms,

to remove the "cap" grasp the ignition wire and the cap and unscrew the plug cap off of the ignition wire,

the "cap" is what the spark plug snaps into , it has a resistor in it also, but i don't see any referance to it in the repair manual,

Thanks, Toadady, for that info. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to remove the cap from the plug wire! I had given up trying because I didn't want to use brute strength and then find out I was wrong (been there, done that)! And for the resistance values, too.
