Default G16 brake question...

I've been working on my cart this winter, I painted the body, did a clutch kit and am waiting for my 6" jakes lift so I can put my 22x10x10 swamp fox tires on. I've been driving the cart around a little since i did the clutch kit last week and noticed that it doesnt stop very well at all!! I checked the shoes and drums and they look good, buttt when I hit the breaks, even at slow speed, it doesnt really stop . Are there adjustments I should look for with the cables or should I just replace the shoes?? any ideas?...thanks.

if your shoes have a good amount of material on them.......take some sand paper and scuff up the drums real good and adjust them at the cam(star looking thing in the brake cluster) until there is a little resistance while sliding the drum off. then....pull up floor mat and adjust the cable there....use 2 twelve mm wrenches to do this. alot of times...the pads will glaze over and the drums will be glazed over too. wont hurt to scuff up the pads as well.

Excelleant advice Tacomaman May also want to see if the brake shoes are labeled (Korea), that aftermarket lining is not the best stopping material.
