Need advice for a Cushman Golfster Restore
Hey guys, I am new to this site but the love the info I have gotten so far by searching for answers
My uncle had a old electric Cushman Golfster golf cart that I bought off his estate auction. It is in pretty good shape, but I am looking at redoing it as sort of a tribute to him. I think I have everything cosmetic figured out (rear seats, paint, front seats, canopy etc). I am struggling with the speed of the thing. I want it to go fast, my uncle was known for tinkering for speed. It goes between 8 and 11 depending on charge and hills. It has around a 12-1 gear ratio now, I have seen new gears for other carts online with either a 8-1 or 6-1 ratio, but I havent seen any especially for cushman?? Does anyone know if another make of gear will work in this?? I was also wanting to put bigger tires on the rear, but I am going to run into issues with them rubbing on the fiberglass body. I think I can get away from this by making a longer drive shaft and sliding the rearend back a couple inches. If anyone has any wisdom to share it would greatly be appreciated!! I need to get this thing to look sharp and go fast!! thanks in advance |
