WOW what a headache!!!
My head hurts I have been doing so much reading on here
Ok, My car (best I can tell) is a Yamaha 1999 36 volt G16....can't find a serial number. My car has qty 6, 6volt batteries= 36 volts. I can buy qty 3, 12volt batteries to do the samething? I want to add accessories later like stereo and lights, so I need to run those on a 12volt Deep Cycle battery seperate from the main batteries and use seperate charger? I am not concerned with speed. The man I bought mine from said he took something out of the resistor that governs the speed. I don't know!!! Am I on the right track or am I all confused??? Thanks!! |

Re: WOW what a headache!!!
3 12 volts will work...however you wont have nearly the run-time you will need to be happy and your charger may not work properly...best way to go is too replace with 6 volts like it was designed for. Running a sep battery for lights and access is one route but requires that battery to be trickle charged sep from the rest of your pack, alternative solution and a better way is to get a voltage reducer that draws of all batteries instead of just two and no sep charger...there is no resistor that gov speed on a G16...

Re: WOW what a headache!!!
Thanks Cam!! I didn't replace the 6-6volts, they are brand new from previous owner. I am just trying to read and fidure out the best way to run the accessories.
I will get a voltage reducer like you mentioned and wire them in that way. Becuase I have NO ROOM for a 12volt deep cycle!! No resistor huh? What is the big coil in there between all the batteries? Thanks!! |

Not sure what you mean by big coil...g16's are controller based carts there should be no coil lol you may be referring to the solenoid but a pic would get us in the right direction...

Re: WOW what a headache!!!
Maybe it's not a 1999. I can't take a pic of it right now.
It looks like a big coil of wire mounted to a bracket and it gets hot when you are running the car. I will see if I can find a pic on here. |
